HAPPY 4TH OF JULY!

We had a nice week of resting after our big trip,
but now mom and I are preparing to go on another adventure.
YAY!Much to dad's delight and mom's dismay,
our other boat, the Swamp Donkey, has returned.
My life jacket is secure and I'm ready for an ocean adventure!

Even in the rain we have to go for a walk.
I have a pretty sweet rain set-up.

Phoebë and me, before she went to Maryland.

I went from wearing only a diaper to
wearing my cold weather suit, and in summer no less!

This week I grew two new teeth up on top.
Here is a peek at my bottom two!

Guatemala!

Hola mis amigos! Ya hemos regresado de Guatemala y tengo
muchas fotos para Uds.!

My Spanish really improved on this trip. I was
just showing off. Here we go!

First in Seattle we got to see my friend Carson
(you might remember him from some previous posts)
and we had a good time messing around together.
I shared some of my cheerios with him.

Our room was really hot and, just like my mom,
my face gets red when it is too hot for me.

Here we are in our pjs, getting ready for bed.

The next day we arrived in Antigua.
All the flights went very well
and I was charming as usual to the flight staff.
This is the view out of our hotel room.

On one of our stops on the bus I met this girl and
she wanted to hold me. She was nice.

Then at a restaurant I got to go in the
kitchen and watch them cook.
They gave me lots of kisses and called me Gerber.

This is Gus, one of my mom's students. We bonded.

This is Uncle Darryl and I at the fountain.
He let me pull on the plants when mom wasn't looking.
That is generally considered a "no-no" at home,
but these were vacation plants.

During a really long cooking class Katy carried me around
so I could take a nap. Making tamales was hard work
and I was completely exhausted. I saved enough
energy so I could sample the guacamole,
the tamales, and even a little fresh corn tortilla.

At a different restaurant this waiter carried
me around so mom and dad could eat.
The band played a special song, just for me.

I got a new hat to keep the sun off my head
and the new blonde hair that I grew while in Guat.
I think my dad is concerned that it might be reddish.

How many babies get a diaper change in Tikal?
Well probably all the babies that visit Tikal,
but what a nice view of The Lost World
built in 500-ish B.C.!

Clearly Temple 1 was my favorite of all the ruins.

After the ruins Sarah and Ruby took me swimming.
I like the water a lot.

Dad and I went on a hike looking for jaguars.
All we saw were parrots and monkeys though.

This was a pretty cool plant that I tried to chew on.

It was so extremely hot in northern Guatemala that
I spent most of my time there wearing just a diaper,
as you have seen.

The next pictures are of our hotel, where I spent a lot of time outside.

This was our cabaña.

We had a 14 hour bus ride home in this tiny bus with 24 people.
I didn't even cry. Super Baby!

I borrowed dad's hat for a little while and thought I looked pretty good.

Do we have to go home? I like traveling!

The howler monkeys were pretty cool.

Tuk Tuk!

Adios muchachos!

Today begins wi th packing mania.
I guess we are leaving for Guatemala tomorrow,
which is good because I have been wanting to practice my Spanish.
I really have the word "leche" down.

To my adoring public:
I probably won't have another update until we get back
at the end of June, but when I get home
I will show you all the stuff I did on the trip!

Here are a few pictures of my last couple of weeks to tide you over.

My grandma J and I spending some time together before she left.
My mom says I have to get used to this pack
because I am going to be in it a lot for the next 2 weeks.
She also said she was happy dad was going to carry me in it.
I think she was implying that it is heavy!
This is my buddy Fisher.

My mom teaches with all these ladies.
Baby boom in the school district!

All 12 of us are wearing our Alaska Grown clothes.
I am sneakily trying to drop some hand sanitizer on the little babies.
Too bad mom caught me in the act.

This is my mango face!

And here I am eating. Don't worry G-ma, I only
eat about 3-5 cheerios a day. I am just trying to get
my manual dexterity down.

Hasta pronto!
